Periodically I will post here excerpts of work in progress, both as a sample of my current preoccupations and for comments by readers. Since lately I'm writing a lot of historical fiction, I especially welcome correction of any errors detected. I do a lot of research but there are always new discoveries being made in archives or by archaeologists that could render what I think I know obsolete. When I read historical fiction, nothing turns me off faster than catching somebody using an item that wasn't invented for another 200 years!
